Delivering Fully Integrated Designs

BIM Compliant 3D Design & Models

Bilfinger UK’s multidiscipline design team has a proven track record of delivering BIM compliant 3D design and models to suit customer requirements. Our portfolio includes the successful project delivery of both Brownfields and Greenfields working environments, with projects delivered to a variety of model development stages from conceptual (LoD 2) through to fabrication design (LoD 5).

As part of BIM requirements to deliver a fully integrated design, the team are experienced in not only adapting to customer supplied BIM procedures, but also the generation and maintaining of procedures, including a need to coordinate an inter-organisational Common Data Environment (CDE) as necessary.

To assist in the continued delivery of successful projects, the design team use a variety of software, including but not limited to: Aveva PDMS/E3D, AutoDesk AutoCAD, AutoDesk Plant3D, AutoDesk Inventor, AutoDesk Navisworks Manage, AutoDesk Revit and Bentley Microstation.

  • Steelwork detailing
  • Civil earthworks design
  • Pipework design
  • Electrical containment design
  • BIM coordination (clash detection & procedures)

3D Laser Scanning

We also utilises 3D laser scanning to help facilitate in the accuracy of our design packages. We have a number of users of the Leica RTC 360 targetless Laser Scanner, all with vast site experience.

The laser scanning process consists of reality data capture to produce a point cloud by which the designers can check the design of new pipework, steelwork and equipment against existing plant. This process can also be used as a check to verify an as-built installation against the design.

Laser scanning is an alternative approach to traditional surveys, which offers a higher degree of accuracy by capturing millions of points every second and creating a complete, accurate 3D representation of site surroundings. Software used to assist in the delivery of laser scans includes: Leica Cyclone, Leica Register 360, AutoDesk ReCap and Navisworks Manage.
